Espoo, Finland, 2013-12-30 12:00 CET (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- PRESS RELEASE 30
December 2013
Fortum sells its Kauttua combined heat and power plant in Eura, South-Western
Finland to the Finnish energy company Adven Oy. The transaction is part of
Fortum’s efficiency programme launched in October 2012. Fortum is focusing on
CHP-production at larger centres and units.
The sale has a minor impact on Fortum’s financial performance and it will be
booked in Fortum's Heat Division’s fourth-quarter 2013 results. The parties
have agreed not to disclose the sales price.
The Kauttua CHP-plant generates electricity for the national grid, district
heat for Adven's network in the Eura region and process steam for industrial
consumers in the region. The plant's production capacity is 14 megawatts (MW)
electricity, 10 MW district heat and 31 MW process steam. The plant is fuelled
mainly by a variety of wood, paper and plastic-based recycled trade and
industry fuels suitable for energy use. Altogether 18 people will transfer with
the business to Adven.
Adven supplies energy via its 162 customised plants and 46 district heating
networks in Finland and Estonia.
