Fortum sells its combined heat and power plant in Nokia, Finland
Espoo, Finland, 2013-12-20 09:00 CET (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- PRESS RELEASE 20
December 2013
Fortum sells its combined heat and power (CHP) plant as well as its natural gas
and district heating network in the town of Nokia to the Finnish energy company
Leppäkosken Sähkö. The transaction is part of Fortum’s efficiency programme
launched in October 2012. Fortum is focusing on CHP-production at larger
centres and units.
Fortum expects to finalise the divestment by the end of December 2013 and for
it to have a minor impact on Fortum's Heat Division’s fourth-quarter 2013

The Nokia CHP-plant generates electricity for the national grid, district heat
for close to 800 Nokia households and process steam for industrial consumers in
the region. The power plant is fuelled by natural gas. In addition to the Nokia
CHP-plant and the natural gas and district heating networks, Fortum sells five
heat-only boilers. The power plant's capacity is 72 megawatts electricity and
180 megawatts heat. The sale of steam, district heat and natural gas total
approximately 400 gigawatt-hours per year. One employee will transfer with the
business.
