Santiago de Chile, 25 November 2014----Züblin Chile, a company belonging to publicly listed construction group STRABAG SE, has been awarded the contract to build a hydroelectric power plant for energy group Colbún S.A. south of the Chilean capital of Santiago. The € 36 million contract was signed in mid-November.

The construction of the 34 MW La Mina run-of-the-river hydroelectric plant is Züblin Chile’s fifth project for Colbún S.A., with a total of 22 power plants one of Chile’s largest electric utilities. The contract for Züblin Chile comprises all earth and concrete works for the intake structures, an open-channel waterway, a turbine hall and a stilling basin. The construction works are expected to last about 25 months and should be concluded in early 2017.
