STRABAG subsidiary Züblin awarded large building construction contract in Denmark
Züblin A/S realising “Axeltorv, AT2” in Copenhagen
Contract value of about € 103 million
Construction time 2014–2017
Copenhagen, 8 May 2014----Züblin A/S, a Danish subsidiary of the publicly listed European construction group STRABAG SE, was awarded the contract to build the “Axeltorv, AT2” project, a fourteen-storey multi-use building on the square just opposite of Tivoli in the very city center of Copenhagen. The turnkey agreement with a contract value of about € 103 million has already been signed. Leading the consortium of investors is Denmark’s largest public pension fund ATP.
“Following the realisation of various different infrastructure and civil engineering projects, this is the second building construction contract of such a magnitude for the STRABAG Group in Denmark after signing the contract for the ‘Bryghusprojektet’ just seven month earlier”, comments Thomas Birtel, CEO of STRABAG SE.
The design by the Danish architects Lundgaard & Tranberg calls for a 42,000 m² combined office and retail building with public recreational areas, restaurants, cafés and multi sublevel parking facilities on one of Copenhagen’s most frequently visited spots just in front of the main entrance of internationally well-known Tivoli. The project is to be handed over to the client by the end of 2016.
Already in 2012 Züblin A/S had been awarded the contract to design and execute the 75x75 metres large and 20 metres deep building pit worth approx. € 10 million, which will be finished in summer 2014.
